Girls Beginner - Winter 2025

The objectives of our Girls' Beginner program is centered around growing the fundamentals of hockey. It’s important for beginner players to become comfortable on the ice, learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, use of edges and how to hold a stick before moving into a higher level of hockey. We are excited to host a girls' only environment to learn in and take this next step in continuing to grow the girls' game in our area.

• Players will be able to fall and recover to a balanced standing position
• Players will be able to stand properly on the ice in the basic hockey stance (forward and backward)
• Players will be able to march forward across the ice, 8-10 steps
• Players will be able to two-foot glide and dip from forward march across the ice
• Players will be able to forward swizzle/double c-cut (4-6 in a row)
• Players will be able to T-push to a two-foot glide (hold 2-4 seconds) on a straight line, alternating feet
• Players will be able to snowplow stop, stationary and moving
• Bonus skill:  Players will be able to turn front to back and turn back to front (stationary)

What if I, as a parent, don't know anything about hockey?

You don’t need to know anything! (Except to dress warm for the rinks.) Our hockey community welcomes new parents all the time with open arms. You’ll have the opportunity to make new friends in the stands and learn more about the sport. Seattle Junior will also provide you with newsletters, parent meetings, and more to keep you in the loop about hockey happenings.
